America in Numbers: Family Income


In 1989 the American median household income was $51,681. In 2012 terms (after inflation) this is the equivalent of $94,300. In 2012 the median American household income stood was $51,017

In other words, in 23 years the American median household has lost 45% of the value of its income, this is 2% a year.

Incomes definitely haven't kept up with inflation, well except maybe for the 1% or .001%.
